Explore the Stoneman Taurista
An adventure for mountain bike enthusiasts
Welcome to almlust, your home base in the Salzburger Sportwelt! If you are a passionate mountain biker or simply looking for an exciting adventure in the Alps, then the Stoneman Taurista is just the thing for you.
What is the Stoneman Taurista?
The Stoneman Taurista is an exclusive mountain bike experience organised by Roland Stauder in Austria. The route takes you through the breathtaking mountain landscape of Salzburger Land and offers a perfect mix of sporting challenge and nature experience.
The route
The entire route stretches over 147 kilometres and 4,700 metres in altitude and can be completed in 1, 2 or 3 days, depending on your personal fitness level and your schedule. Impressive panoramic views, idyllic mountain pastures and challenging trails await you along the way. The setting for this extraordinary mountain bike adventure is the impressive mountain scenery around Flachau, Wagrain-Kleinarl, Altenmarkt-Zauchensee, Radstadt, Forstau, Filzmoos and Obertauern. The start and end point is the village of Flachau, which makes the Stoneman Taurista the ideal tour for your stay at the Hotel almlust.
My bike is my home.

Prepare right
To make sure you are well prepared for the adventure, here are some tips on how to prepare:
Fitness: The Stoneman Taurista is demanding, so a good basic level of fitness is important. Regular training on your mountain bike will help you to build up the necessary stamina.
Equipment: A well-maintained mountain bike is essential. Don't forget spare parts such as tubes, chain oil and a tool kit. Weatherproof clothing and sufficient food and drink are also essential.
Navigation: The route is well signposted, but a GPS device or map is still helpful to keep you on the right track.
Highlights on the road
- Rossbrand: From Altenmarkt, the 1,768 metre high Rossbrand beckons. An overwhelming panoramic view of over 150 striking Alpine peaks - such as the Dachstein, Bischofsmütze and the Großglockner in the Hohe Tauern - is the reward.
- NEW: Penkkopf Kleinarl: High above Wagrain-Kleinarl, a brand new checkpoint awaits your starter map with a view of the summit of the Penkkopf. With two new trails, the Stoneman Taurista is even better here!
- Obertauern: This well-known ski resort shows its quiet and picturesque side in summer and offers a perfect opportunity for a well-earned break.
Alpine pastures: Numerous alpine pastures along the route invite you to linger and enjoy local specialities.
After the adventure: relaxing
After an eventful day on the mountain bike, the almlust is the perfect place to relax. Our wellness area offers you a variety of saunas, a pool and an alpine lake to relax your muscles and recharge your batteries. Enjoy a massage or treat yourself to a relaxing break in our relaxation area.
Conclusion
The Stoneman Taurista is more than just a mountain bike tour - it is an unforgettable experience in the heart of one of Austria's most beautiful regions. As a guest at the almlust, you have the ideal starting point to begin this adventure. Pack your bags and experience the fascination of the Stoneman Taurista!
