Hiking on the Lackenkogel: a nature experience from the beautiful almlust

Austria's breathtaking mountain world offers numerous hiking destinations for nature lovers and adventurers. One of these impressive destinations is the Lackenkogel, a peak in the Radstädter Tauern that promises an unforgettable hike. The starting point for this adventure is the charming Almlust accommodation in Flachau. Here is a detailed report on the hike to the Lackenkogel from the Almlust.

The ascent begins
From the almlust, the trail first leads through the picturesque village of Flachau. After a short time, you are immersed in the tranquil natural surroundings and the stress of everyday life is left far behind. The well-signposted hiking trail leads through dense forests and past blooming alpine meadows. Especially in spring and summer, nature shows its most beautiful side here, with a variety of flowers and the buzzing of insects.

The first stage: to the Sattelbauer
After about an hour, you reach the Sattelbauer, a cosy alpine hut that invites you to take a break. Here you can fortify yourself with a savoury snack and enjoy the magnificent view. The Sattelbauer is known for its regional cuisine, and a piece of apple strudel or a glass of fresh buttermilk will give you new energy for the rest of the ascent.

I like being in the mountains and I'm happy there.

The path to the summit
From Sattelbauer, the trail continues through varied terrain. The path gradually becomes steeper and more challenging, but the view and the increasingly fresh air make up for any effort. You pass small streams and always have the opportunity to admire the panorama. The trail is well marked and easy to manage with a little fitness.

Summit bliss on the Lackenkogel
After a total ascent of around three hours, you reach the summit of the Lackenkogel at an altitude of 2,051 metres. Here you are rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and valleys. On clear days, the view extends as far as the Hohe Tauern and the Dachstein massif. The summit offers plenty of space for a well-earned break and a picnic with spectacular views.

The descent
The descent follows the same route and offers the opportunity to take in the impressions of the hike once again. The return to the Sattelbauer is a welcome stopover before continuing back to Flachau. At the end of the hike, you can relax in the Almlust and enjoy the cosy exhaustion.

Conclusion
The hike up the Lackenkogel from Almlust is an unforgettable experience that is suitable for both experienced hikers and less experienced nature lovers. The combination of idyllic paths, impressive views and the warm hospitality of the almlust makes this tour a highlight of every hiking season. If you want to discover the beauty of the Radstädter Tauern, this hike is the perfect opportunity to do so.
